Safeguarding for parents

Do you have a safeguarding concern?

As a parent, or member of the public, we all have a duty of care to ensure that we support the safeguarding of all young people and those who are deemed vulnerable.

If you have a safeguarding concern and wish to speak to a safeguarding lead at the academy, please call 01522 681892 and ask to speak to a DSL to raise a safeguarding concern. Concerns can also be raised confidentially using the “Report a Concern” button above on our website.

If your concern is beyond the school day, at a weekend or during the school holidays, any member of the public can call the customer services social care team on: 01522 782111. You will be able to share your concern with them, you can remain anonymous, however, it is helpful if you are able to share who you are, which will remain confidential. This allows them to be able to filter out malicious calls.

Safeguarding at Manor Farm Academy

At Manor Farm Academy, our whole school community take an active role in the pastoral care of our children; it is very important to us and we ensure that we provide a high level of duty of care, welfare and safety for all children.

At Manor Farm Academy we endeavor to  support all pupils including those who may be experiencing barriers to learning which could be related to social, emotional, health or personal reasons.  We deal sensitively and effectively with our children’s needs and concerns.

All our staff contribute towards ensuring our pupils have the opportunity to achieve by helping to remove any obstacles that barrier successful learning. We work together as a team to equip our pupils with the confidence and skills to be effective learners and positive members of the community. Building strong relationships with both parents and outside agencies, ensures that we are able to support the mentoring of our children.

Our aim is to:
Provide an environment which will support the emotional health and well-being of all the pupils.

Support targeted children in developing social, emotional and behavioural skills within the school setting.

Support and empower families who may be experiencing difficulties.

Supporting Children

Manor Farm Academy has a climate of trust, respect and confidence, and our pupils can seek support from teachers, support staff and each other whenever the need may arise.

In addition to this, children are able to access pastoral support at any time via Mrs Speed our designated Pastoral TA.

Within the academy, we also have a number of Mental Health First Aiders, who also work to support our pupils. These are: Mrs Speed, Miss Sellers and Miss Richardson.

If the need arises, and with the consent of parents, children can be signposted to the support of relevant outside agencies.

Staying Safe

We use a huge variety of resources in school to support children in staying safe. A small selection can be found below. We also make use of high quality face to face connections, such as pupil and parent workshops with Healthy Minds Lincolnshire, online assemblies and workshops with ‘Speak Out Stay Safe’ and strong connections with our local PCSO team who work alongside pupils in school.

Online Safety

Our children are growing up in a world of ever-changing technology. While we feel that the use of technology is a largely positive aspect of modern life, we cannot ignore the risks that can be associated.

We can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with parents to ensure the Online Safety message is consistent. It is important that parents speak to their children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online.

Staying safe online can often be a real worry for parents and carers. We have collated some resources to support parents and carers, which we hope will be a support that runs alongside our termly Online Safety Newsletters
