Pastoral Support

At Manor Farm Academy, the children’s well being and mental health is a priority. We have many different ways of supporting various needs such as managing friendships, anxiety, separation and bereavement, mental health first aid, developing confidence, secondary school transition and much, much more.

Mrs Speed, our Pastoral Lead, has attended many courses to support the children’s pastoral needs such as: Mental Health First Aid, ELSA (Emotional literacy support), Grief and Loss training and an introduction to Counselling course.

If you feel your child needs additional pastoral support please get in touch with school and we will assess their individual needs and support as appropriate.

Mrs Speed is a trained ELSA practitioner and delivers ELSA sessions in school to help pupils understand and manage their emotions, feelings and behaviors. These are bespoke 1:1 sessions aimed at the pupil’s individual requirements.

A LEGO Therapy session has many benefits, such as developing teamwork, listening and attention, turn taking and resilience.

What does a session look like?

A session involves 3 pupils, each having a different role: builder, supplier and engineer. Under the guidance of a LEGO Therapy trained adult they work together to build a Lego model.

Miss Sellers, Miss Richardson and Mrs Speed are our trained Mental Health First Aiders. The children know that they have time to talk’.
