World Book Day 2023

Books form a vital part of a child’s education and early years. Able to inspire imagination and boost confidence, books can provide children with gateways to other worlds, as well as exposing them to English language and literature – which can, in turn, have a positive impact on academic success.

Today, we’re celebrating World Book Day, which provides an incredible opportunity for our students to build a love of reading and share their favourite stories with their classmates. We could even inspire the next best-selling author!

As part of our celebrations, our children will be dressing up as their favourite character from a book, and will take part in a costume parade during assembly. We’ll also be putting on a Secret Reader event, for which children will pick the book they’d most like to hear read to them based on the blurb alone, and then hear that book read aloud later in the day.

Our students will also join Author Talks to hear from authors themselves, before choosing a book they’d like to share with a child in another class.

At Manor Farm, we actively encourage our children to develop a love of reading and learning throughout the year. If you’d like to know how you can get involved, you can find resources for families here.
